Samsung LN46A950 46-inch 1080p LED LCD HDTVGetting an ND home video indulges just one aspect of our senses - sight. For everybody, sight is nothing more than the ability to perceive or interpret information from visible light. An HDTV’s most fundamental performance is intimately linked to its ability to produce light. HDTVs use a variety of light-producing mechanisms, but the Samsung LN46A950 uses a wide-color-gamut LED backlight, offering a dynamic light source that optimizes a color’s hue for reproduction of natural, lifelike colors.

When it comes to the LN46A950, that’s just the beginning. A full HD 1080p resolution delivers the highest video resolution currently available. It has 1920 x 1080 pixels scanned progressively with a super-fast 4ms pixel-response time for the smoothest, most lifelike image around.

Samsung’s Auto Motion Plus 120Hz frame-rate conversion technology delivers accurate reproduction of film-based content for a true home-theater experience. Also, there’s no shortage of color, brightness, and detail across the LN46A950’s 16:9 widescreen panel: a cold cathode fluorescent lamp (CCFL) in combination with a wide color enhancer optimizes color reproduction while a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio conjures up precise, stunning detail, scene after scene.

Samsung Launches Luxia LED-based Green LCD TV

Posted On 10:21 AM by NewsMan | | 0 comments

Samsung Luxia

Samsung Electronics on Wednesday presented an all new range of ultra-slim, energy-efficient high-definition televisions at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

Codenamed “Samsung Luxia”, the new range is said to be extremely energy-efficient, as it sports LED as the chief light source, instead of the conventional Cold Cathode Fluoroscent Lamps (CCFLs).

The company unveiled three distinct models of Luxia range, namely 6000, 7000, and 8000 series, with all these models having Samsung’s exclusive ‘Touch of Colour’ image display, which offers high-contrast ratios, ultra clear image details, and a wide range of colours.

The LNXXB8000 series of the range integrates advanced ‘Auto Motion Plus’ 240Hz frame processing feature that can deliver speedier 240 Hz refresh-rate, which is said to be four times faster than that of LCD TVs available in the market currently.

In addition, the 8000 model is expected to hit the market in first half of this year in 55-inch and 46-inch versions.

On the other hand, the LNXX7000 model sports Auto Motion Plus 120Hz frame interpolation capability, along with 120HZ refresh rate, which is twice the capability of the erstwhile LCD TVs.

Moreover, the LNXXB6000 series includes a power indicator menu and consumes 40 percent less power than the other LCD TVs.

All these three HDTVs integrates Wi-Fi capability, with 7000 and 8000 models providing Samsung’s signature “Internet@TV - Content Service” that enables users to access content from YouTube, Flickr, and Yahoo right on their TV screens with a simple touch of button.

Samsung LN46A550 Review

Samsung LN46A550 Review
This all-around excellent TV is easy to use and a delight to the eyes.

It's hard to find fault with Samsung's LN46A550. This LCD model lacks some of the specs and design of its younger sibling, the Samsung LN46A650, but otherwise it holds its own next to that model.

In our Test Center tests, the LN46A550 excelled with Blu-ray discs. In a scene from Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, images looked as though they were coming from a mint 35mm print. Though I thought that some of the images in our tests lost a bit of detail, my fellow judges felt otherwise. This model finished in a statistical tie with the Samsung LN46A650 in overall performance, and it remains atop the heap of models we've tested in this size category.

Samsung generated great buzz for their new ultra-thin LED HDTVs at the CES 2009. Even before the show the anticipation in December for the new Samsung LED TVs with Internet services, LED backlight and 240Hz technology was high. Then Samsung unveiled their ultra-thin 6.5mm LCD panel and stole the show in terms of thinness, except to OLED TV concepts.
Now that the dust has settled, how thin and how great are the new Samsung HDTVs that you can by in 2009?

The new top of the line Samsung HDTV line-up consists of the Samsung Luxia 8000, 7000, and 6000 HDTVs.

The new Samsung 3rd generation LED HDTVs use LEDS as their primary light source, rather than traditional Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamps (CCFL). Benefits of using LEDs include ultra-high contrast ratios, slim depths that allowance for more artful designs, plus increased energy savings.

The Samsung Ultra Clear Panel further allows the preservation of every detail even in brightly-lit, imperfect viewing conditions.

The Samsung Luxia 8000 Series uses the new refresh rate of 240Hz that nearly eliminates the ill effects of displaying quick, action-packed motion. The Samsung Luxia 7000 and 6000 Series use still the 120Hz technology.

Using either a wired or wireless Ethernet connection included in the 8000 and 7000 Series, Samsung offers the Internet@TV - Content Service. With the Samsung Internet@TV - Content Service you can access content onscreen from Yahoo!, Flickr, YouTube and more. The widgets-based interface and scrollbar from Yahoo! run along the bottom of the screen for easy browsing of the latest programs and content.

The Samsung 6000 Series only includes access to Samsung’s InfoLink RSS service, which can instantly display updated news, sports, weather and stocks information with a touch of the remote.
