Samsung generated great buzz for their new ultra-thin LED HDTVs at the CES 2009. Even before the show the anticipation in December for the new Samsung LED TVs with Internet services, LED backlight and 240Hz technology was high. Then Samsung unveiled their ultra-thin 6.5mm LCD panel and stole the show in terms of thinness, except to OLED TV concepts.
Now that the dust has settled, how thin and how great are the new Samsung HDTVs that you can by in 2009?

The new top of the line Samsung HDTV line-up consists of the Samsung Luxia 8000, 7000, and 6000 HDTVs.

The new Samsung 3rd generation LED HDTVs use LEDS as their primary light source, rather than traditional Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamps (CCFL). Benefits of using LEDs include ultra-high contrast ratios, slim depths that allowance for more artful designs, plus increased energy savings.

The Samsung Ultra Clear Panel further allows the preservation of every detail even in brightly-lit, imperfect viewing conditions.

The Samsung Luxia 8000 Series uses the new refresh rate of 240Hz that nearly eliminates the ill effects of displaying quick, action-packed motion. The Samsung Luxia 7000 and 6000 Series use still the 120Hz technology.

Using either a wired or wireless Ethernet connection included in the 8000 and 7000 Series, Samsung offers the Internet@TV - Content Service. With the Samsung Internet@TV - Content Service you can access content onscreen from Yahoo!, Flickr, YouTube and more. The widgets-based interface and scrollbar from Yahoo! run along the bottom of the screen for easy browsing of the latest programs and content.

The Samsung 6000 Series only includes access to Samsung’s InfoLink RSS service, which can instantly display updated news, sports, weather and stocks information with a touch of the remote.
